About LeKisha Alesii, PhD Clinical Psychology

Dr. LeKisha Alesii is originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She moved to the South to obtain doctoral training and to pursue her dream of becoming a psychologist focusing on health-related issues (health psychology). She took an interest in health psychology because of her own personal experience in dealing with a chronic, life-threatening illness. She also has interests in providing therapy to military personnel and veterans. Dr. Alesii has worked at Fort Bragg as a civilian health psychologist providing therapy and evaluation to service members who were having emotional difficulties and health concerns. Many of her family members have served in the Armed Forces and this population is of great interest to her.

With over 15 years of graduate level experience in the mental health field and as a graduate of the University of South Carolina specializing in health psychology, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are chronic pain management, coping with medical conditions, and coping skills for managing challenging situations including military trauma.

Dr. Alesii has presented at national and international conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of chronic pain, medical management of illnesses, and stress management strategies. Dr. Alesii is an interactive psychologist who values collaboration in therapy. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She provides guidance in helping her clients understand how their past behavior and thoughts impact how they are currently feeling. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
